Aircraft Registration

Malta and the Newly Enacted Aircraft Registration Act 2010

The Maltese Aircraft Registration Act 2010 enacted and shortly coming into force consolidates the existing laws on aircraft registration. Through the establishment of an ambitious aircraft register and the setting up of the Malta Transportation (Regulatory) Authority, Malta ought to be well positioned into one of the EU’s most topical business opportunities.

The new Malta Aircraft Registration Act highlights the difference between an aviation undertaking and an air transport undertaking consequently widening the possibility of registering aircraft; creating further opportunities for the private use of aircraft. This renders the Maltese register more accessible.
