Italo was called to the Bar in the year 2000. He was conferred with the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Legal and Humanistic Studies from the University of Malta in 1996, graduated as a Notary Public in 1997 and was subsequently conferred with the degree of Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) in 1999 after successfully defending his thesis titled ‘The Protection Afforded to Creditors and Shareholders upon the dissolution and Winding Up of a Private Limited Company’. For two years prior to being conferred with the degree of Doctor of Laws, he successfully completed his legal traineeship with a leading law firm in Malta. Italo commenced private practice after being conferred with the degree of Doctor of Laws and was a founding partner of the law firm Ellul Mifsud & DeBono, today EMD.
As part of his practice as a partner at EMD Advocates, Italo assists various clients, in particular corporate clients in both local and cross-border issues, in connection with their legal disputes and represents such clients in various fora as and when required. Italo is particularly specialized in legal drafting and civil, commercial and real estate law matters.
